DETAIL PROGRAM

Stop1: Mushroom Farm

On our tour’s first stop, we will meet local mushroom harvesters. Mushrooms (not the psychedelic variety!) are central to many rural Cambodian dishes; find out more about this trade and its connection to the local community.

Stop2: Lotus Farm

The lotus flower grows in mud, yet rises above it to grow untainted by its surroundings. In essence, the lotus is a symbol of purity, and carries deep religious significance for the local Cambodian-Buddhist community. On our next stop, we take you to a lotus farm, where you will be able to learn more about this remarkable flower, sample its fruits, and purchase locally-made lotus products. The farm is also wonderful photo opportunity!

Stop3: The Stilt House

From the lotus farm, we will then ride to view stilt houses. Stilt houses, or pile dwellings (palafittes) are houses built over a soil surface or body of water. They are primarily built as protection against flooding, but are also useful in keeping out the creepy crawlies! Marvel at the construction of these houses and make friends with the villagers, who will be more than happy to share about their unique dwelling.

Stop4: Sunset on the Tonle Sap

On our final stop, we will go the floating village of the Tonle Sap, where you will be able to photograph and interact with villagers who rely on fishing as their main source of sustenance. Your guides will then lead you up Phnom Krom hill, where you will be able to wind down and enjoy a beautiful Cambodian sunset.
